Saying goodbye to the land

Excuse my absence for the past month. But it’s for good reasons! In August I was finally able to move out of a toxic home. I spent all my energy and focus on renovations and working on my new home, which is why I have been mia. Now that I have settled ever so slightly and the anxiety has passed, I want to shift back my focus to my blog. Today I’d like to talk about saying goodbye to a Genius Loci, or spirit of the land. This blogpost also partially acts as an ode to the land spirit, supported by pictures I have taken of the land.

Favourite niche albums

Many of my close friends know I am an avid lover of music. Just like my extensive love for perfume, music holds broader value to me than simply background music. This is also characterised by a wide range of music genres that I adhere to, stemming from the need for a specific genre to fit a certain vibe. My girlfriend would describe me as an audiophile, because I have a deep desire to hear every tune and note in a song and discover new instruments and beats with every listen. I for example was thrilled when Spotify introduced lossless streaming. Another great example is that I am an enthusiastic CD collector, purely because I am of the firm believe that music simply sounds better on CD. I am also a notorious album listener. I adore the storytelling that artists envision through their albums.

Lughnasadh in an overview

The wheel of the year is a Wiccan construction that has been adapted by neo paganism. It takes from older pagan celebrations across Western Europe (mainly the UK) and puts them together in perfectly spaced celebrations in the year. However most of these celebrations were never celebrated as the Wheel of the Year and each region would celebrate a different festival. Nor were these perfectly spaced and always on the same date each year. Rather people would perceive seasonal change through the natural world via plants, weather or the sun signalling a changing of seasons.

Posing with a willow

Hello lovelies!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Today I present to you saturday's outfit. I hadn't taken a lot of pictures of this outfit, since the rest of the afternoon I spend with a friend and the dog they were dogsitting. Afterwards I went to my girlfriend's place. Also please excuse the low picture quality, I took all of these with my front camera (I have some beautiful landscape shots that I didn't post because of the low quality).

Obscura Fragrancia Sample Unboxing

Hello dear readers!
Today I received a sample box from Obscura Fragrancia. I have mentioned this particular perfume house before in my perfume glamour magic post, where I bring up their perfume Midnight Church. This scent suited my needs perfectly for an incense smell. As I adore obscure and peculiar perfume, I wanted to try out the other fragrances they offer. I had a strong pull to trying out Old Library, Ghost Veil and Baba Yaga, as the scent profile and the pictures seemed very intriguing. The other three I picked out based on what seemed interesting to me.

The Dog Days Of Summer

As if the heatwave (in Europe) wasn’t enough already, we are now also in what is known to antiquity as the hottest period of the year. The dog days of summer cover the 3rd of July until the 11th of august every year. Nowadays it’s associated with the hazy hot days of summer in the northern hemisphere, but it far surpasses the saying and is actually tied to quite a lot of folkore. Besides this period and the folkloric ties can also be worked with in witchcraft.

Out and about in the forest

Hello everyone!

Happy sunday! Today I spent the whole day cleaning & cleansing my room, as it was desperately needed. Yesterday my girlfriend and I went to one of the older forests in the Netherlands and went exploring. As we went on our way, I had asked her to take some pictures of me (and us) since I love taking cool pictures and I love the forest. Today I'd like to share them with you all.
